Download
Download Kaleta.
One ZIP file with the whole system: free, open source under GPL-2.0-or-later, no account and no licence key. The current version is Kaleta 3.5.
Requirements
What your hosting needs.
- PHP 8.4 or newer with the
pdo_mysqlandmbstringextensions. - MySQL 8 or MariaDB 10.6 or newer, and an empty database.
- Apache, which reads the included
.htaccessfiles, or Nginx with the example configuration insystem/nginx.example.conf. - Write access to the site folder (for
config.php) and tostorage/(logs and cache). - HTTPS, which Claude needs to connect to your site.
The installer checks PHP, the extensions and write access before it asks for anything.
Installation
Three steps, a few minutes.
1. Upload.
Unpack the ZIP and upload its contents to your hosting over FTP or the file manager, including the hidden .htaccess files.
2. Create a database.
Create an empty MySQL or MariaDB database in your hosting's control panel and note its name, user and password.
3. Run the installer.
Open your-site/install.php, fill in one form and choose a starter site. The installer deletes itself when it is done.
Afterwards
Updates come to you.
- Updates from the admin. Your site downloads and installs later versions itself in Settings → Backups and updates. Every package is signed, and a failed update puts the old files back.
- Security fixes install themselves unless you switch that off.
- Connect Claude when you are ready: the admin shows the address to add in the Claude app. How connecting works.
What changes in each version is in the changelog, and how versions are numbered and supported is in the release policy. The source code is on GitHub.
