Yes. Kaleta is licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later, with no paid tiers, add-ons or per-site licences. Development is supported by voluntary contributions through GitHub Sponsors.

Companies, tradespeople, consultants and the agencies and freelancers who build their websites. It is not an online shop, a membership platform or a course system.

No, by design. Features come as built-in extensions – news, forms and enquiries, newsletter, statistics, redirects, language versions, a public API, the AI assistant and the Claude connection – that you switch on and off. Every update is tested as a whole.

The admin is in English and Czech. A site can be in around forty languages and have several language versions; visitor texts (buttons, forms, dates) are translated into Czech, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Slovak, other languages fall back to English with dates in their own format.

Yes. The site export packs pages, news, collections, site parts, classes and media, and the read-only JSON API returns your content for other systems.

No. The builder, design system and everything else work without AI. Claude and the AI assistant are optional extensions.

Switch on Claude connection (MCP) and add your site’s /mcp address as a connector in the Claude app. You sign in on your own site and confirm access – nothing to copy. Claude Code can connect the same way.

It works with the permissions of your account: it builds pages, the header and footer, collections and the look, uploads media and writes news. Pages and news are saved as drafts and published only when you say so. It cannot change the site e-mail, webhooks, mail, backups or security settings.

After each build change Claude gets a signed preview link to the draft and can pass it to you. Every change it makes is in the change log, and pages keep their last 20 published versions.

Buttons in the builder and in news that create a section from a description, rewrite text, suggest titles and SEO descriptions or translate. It uses your own API key for Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini or Mistral, and text is sent only when you click an assistant button.

Any hosting with PHP 8.4 or newer and MySQL 8 or MariaDB 10.6+. Upload the files over FTP, create an empty database and open /install.php – it takes about ten minutes.

Updates are signed and checked before they install. Security releases can install themselves, and a failed update rolls back automatically.

Yes. Kaleta backs up the database automatically and can also send backups off the server over FTPS or S3.

Pages are clean HTML with CSS only for the elements used on them and no JavaScript libraries – a starter page is about 40 kB.

Yes. The WordPress importer brings posts, pages, categories, tags and images and creates 301 redirects from the old addresses. Sites on other systems are rebuilt with Claude. See the migration guides.

The built-in statistics measure visits without cookies. If you add analytics or marketing codes, the built-in cookie bar holds them back until the visitor agrees and keeps an anonymous record of the consent. Maps load only after a click.

On your own hosting, in your database. Content leaves it only through features you set up yourself – the AI assistant, the Claude connection, an enquiry webhook or off-server backups.

Submitted forms are stored in the enquiry inbox and deleted automatically after a set number of months – 24 by default.

The installation creates a draft privacy policy page as a starting template only. You are responsible for the legal texts on your site and should adapt them to your situation and your country’s rules.
