Page builder

Media library.

Upload images and attachments, sort them into folders, describe them for screen readers, set the crop focal point and delete what the site no longer uses.

Content → Media holds every image and downloadable file on the site. Kaleta resizes photos for you, makes lighter WebP and AVIF copies and shows where each file is used.

Uploading

Use Upload images and attachments at the top: select files, or drag them onto the box. You can upload up to 30 files at once. You can also drag images straight into the text in the editor, or pick them from Media in the builder.

  • Images: JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF, up to 20 MB and 50 megapixels.
  • SVG (logos, icons): up to 2 MB. Scripts and outbound links are removed.
  • Attachments: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OpenDocument files, RTF, TXT, CSV, ZIP, EPUB, GPX, ICS, audio (MP3, M4A, OGG, WAV), video (MP4, WebM) and web fonts (WOFF2, WOFF).

Your hosting also sets a limit per file; the hint under the upload box shows it. Everyone who can sign in to the administration can upload. Claude uploads with upload_file.

Sizes and formats

Every photo is re-saved on upload. This removes location data from phones and turns sideways phone photos upright.

  • The original is kept at most 2000 px on its longer side. Very tall images, such as full-page screenshots, are measured by width instead.
  • A 1200 px copy and a 640 px thumbnail serve smaller screens.
  • Each size also gets a WebP and an AVIF copy if your server supports them. Visitors' browsers get the smallest format they can show.
  • GIF files stay as they are, so animations keep working. SVG files have no extra sizes because they scale on their own.

The left column shows All media, Uncategorized, Unused and your Folders. Type a name under new folder and click Add. Open a folder to Rename it. Files you upload while a folder is open go into that folder. Deleting a folder does not delete its files. They become uncategorized.

The search box finds files by name, description or file name. Sort by newest, oldest, name, largest files or least used. Under each file you see its size and used 3× or unused. The count includes news, pages, site parts, collections, components, classes and settings such as the logo. Hover over it to see the places outside news.

Descriptions and alt text

New images start without a description; a file name like “IMG 2041” describes nothing. Type what the image shows into the Description for screen readers (alt) field under the thumbnail. It saves when you leave the field. The site audit lists images that still have no description.

Click description under a file to open its details:

  • Name (alternative text) – the same alt text.
  • Caption below the image.
  • Image credit – shown under a news item's main photo unless the news item has its own photo credit.

Crop focal point

Cards and section backgrounds often crop photos. Under Crop focal point, click the part of the preview that must stay visible, or type Horizontal and Vertical percentages. Then click Save.

Replacing a file

For JPG, PNG and WebP images, Replace file in the details uploads a new photo in place of the old one. The file address stays the same, so the new version appears everywhere the old one was used. Click a thumbnail to open the file in a new tab. Its address looks like media/2026/09/photo-a1b2c3.jpg.

Deleting

Tick select under the files you want. Then, under With selected:, choose Move to folder or Delete. Deleting is permanent. Files that the site still uses are not deleted. You can change and delete your own uploads; only administrators can change or delete files uploaded by other people, and only administrators can delete folders.
